Page 7 — Gilding the Lily

If you really want to go over the top, you can add sound to your button. Start by creating a new layer, then a keyframe, and add a sound to the Over state. If you really want to make your button cry out for attention, go ahead and do the same for the Down state.

And why stop there?

You can also alter the appearance of the button for the Down state. Cut loose and add animations and layers to your heart's content:


While this may be ugly design, it's good practice. And if it means you work this kind of "design overkill" out of your system, all the better. So go ahead, get it all out.

Once you've exhausted all the possibilities provided by this lesson, take a break. You're gonna need the rest, because in the next lesson, you'll be pushing the capabilities of Flash even further with Tell Target, controlling sound, and more.
